About Our Company

Who we are

“Why is my house always hotter in the summer than my neighbor’s house? My home is the same size and design as my neighbor’s house. We both have the same capacity Trane© air conditioner.”

Similar houses can have different cooling needs. Reasons for the differences can be inside or outside your home, or because of the efficiency of your air conditioner.

Deborah and Julius are your local team to answer questions like these and more related to heat and air for your home and office.

certifications

Your heating and air conditioning system is your most expensive “appliance system”. Well trained technicians with skills, knowledge and experience to get your jobs done right and save you money.

Doc J’s HVAC technicians are NATE and EPA 608 certified.

NATE (North American Technical Excellence)

is the nation’s largest non-profit certification organization for HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) technicians. NATE-certified technicians have passed a rigorous exam. The exam validates and verifies their knowledge and experience in their trade. NATE-certified technicians re-certify every two years.

EPA Certification

EPA Section 608 of the Clean Air Act requires that technicians who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release ozone depleting refrigerants into the atmosphere must be certified. EPA 608 tests knowledge and skills related to specific HVAC processes and applications.

Certification helps ensure knowledgeable technicians are working on your system. Refrigerants are properly handled and disposed. Be assured that our technicians are dependable and strive to get your job done right the first time.

Deborah

Chief Managing Partner

Seven schools by seventh grade was my life as an Army brat. My father, Vince Jenkins, retired, and we settled in my mother’s family home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mother’s family are longtime Okies, Creek Muskogee Tribe. Mom, Mae Hutton McCuiston, was born in Tulsa. Tulsa Teachers Credit Union, our bank, resides where she was born at home in 1933. Mother worked for Tulsa Public Schools and Dad worked with Community Development Model Cities and retired as a city division manager.

At family dinners, we enjoyed traditional Southern food. My father always added courses on education, community engagement, and economic development. I graduated Cum Laude from Holland Hall Upper School Tulsa, attended Mount Holyoke College and later Washington University Medical School. I had a fantastic medical career. I worked as a hospital manager in 3 countries with Doctors without Borders. 2006, I received a Certificate in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma. I’ve worked with various community associations and foundations.

After retiring from medicine, I tutored math and science for adult GED students. Most of my students were from working-class backgrounds. I encouraged many students to consider the trades. Trades are a growth area that needs talented people. Technology is changing HVAC. Equipment and systems are more complicated to install, service, and repair.

Since childhood, I’ve changed tires, built fences, and painted my house. Doc J’s Heat and Air is a natural progression to fulfilling my family legacy. Commitment to community, employees, and economic development are Doc J’s values.

Julius

HVAC Contractor & Co-Owner

Our contractor, Julius, was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He learned his strong work ethic from his grandmother. Miss Mariah taught him how to stoke the fire at the family restaurant, Latimer’s Barbecue. Rising at 4 am, he did his chores at the restaurant, and then walked to Dunbar Elementary School. Julius’ first HVAC job was working for Louis Terrell. He worked to pay for his tuition at Bishop Kelly High School in Tulsa, and Terrell taught him all aspects of the HVAC business – installation, service, and repair.

Julius majored in computer science at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He worked in the computer field for a few years but returned to his first love, HVAC.

Returning to Tulsa, he joined Louis Terrell’s HVAC team. In 1984, Julius started his own company, Warren Heat and Air. Also, Julius has experience in HVAC service support with Amsco Supply. He worked in research and development with Rheem Manufacturing.

For the last 18 years, Julius worked with Moncrief Heat and Air Conditioning in Atlanta. Stephen Moncrief founded the company in 1898, and it is the oldest HVAC company in metro Atlanta. Moncrief is known throughout Georgia for quality and customer service. Julius was the technical field supervisor and the most requested technician at Moncrief. He trained technicians and interacted with equipment representatives. As the go-to-guy, he fixed and troubleshooted complex heating and air conditioning equipment system problems.

Julius returns to his family home to make Doc J’s Heat and Air the premier HVAC company in metro Tulsa.
